?Che, que sabes de la Argentina?

The red section in the map is the Provincia de Cordoba, basically the "state" and the city in it. And the Argentine flag--just because I love it... could possibly the reason I'm going :)
Well, Cordoba is the second largest city in Argentina, right behind Buenos Aires, the capital. It
has about 1.3 million people within it. Surrounding Cordoba are the Central Sierras, allowing for the temperate climate and low humidity in the city. Interestingly, Cordoba boasts a den
se population of college students from its seven major universities.
Additionally, the city is known for its five Jesuit missions, which Unesco has declared World Heritage sites. It is a lively city, mixing old with new; in fact, Cordoba was named the Cultural Capital of the Americas in 2006. Who wouldn't be excited to go? :)

It is currently summer in Cordoba where temperatures reach 80-90 degrees F. It is the rainy season until February, but the rainfall isn't very substantial. The time difference is +3 from CST until Daylight Savings, when it will be only +2.

I can't wait to get there to start experiencing a new culture and meeting new people. I've read that the Argentine people are very friendly, and I know that I will enjoy any culture with mate and gauchos :) It will be a great experience and I can't wait to get started!

Paperwork

If I see one more piece of paperwork associated with this deal-- I will scream. Fair warning!

I think I may be nearing the end of this paper trail though. The other day I picked up an official UCC folder! It has information about the classes and dates. I feel like I was a little preemptive in all my decision making as I have figured out what classes I'm taking, when I need to be there, transportation, etc far before they've suggested. I like to think I'm just on top of things :)

I talked to Olga the other day and I have my address in Cordoba, so if you'd like to send some snail mail, I can give you that--send me an email!

Alright, better get back to those finals! A very Merry Christmas to you!

:) getting closer!

Only one month, 22 days left!

I still have a lot to do for getting ready, but everything is confirmed and happening! My flight leaves January 29th and my lovely host mother, Olga, is set to pick me up from the airport in Cordoba. I am very excited to meet her, and her husband, and their two poodles! I know I'll miss my puppy so much while I'm there--it will be nice to have some furry creatures around from time to time.

While I was researching some trips I'd like to take, I found out I'll have the opportunity to go to ANTARCTICA! Although it's very expensive, it would be the experience of a lifetime. So many decisions! I'm sure that all my adventures will be great; I just can't wait to get started!
